Impossible de charger system/codeigniter/Codeigniter.php - Stack Overflow

my hosting have php version 5.3.25 and I use codeigniter version 1.7.2, but when I try load the web I just got white screen. and I realize that in index.php in the root folder can't load this syntax :

require_once BASEPATH.'codeigniter/CodeIgniter'.EXT;

any suggest please to fix it. thank you.
